Polar Bear Club-Sometimes Things Just Disappear CD - $ 10

Polar Bear Club is Bridge Nine's newest signing. This is their debut album released in early 2008 on Red Leader Records. Following its release, the band went from a side project based in upstate New York into one of the most talked about bands in underground music. Reviews of Sometimes Things Just Disappear were nothing short of incredible-with Alternative Press calling it one of 2008's Essential Albums amongst praise for those who got the album.

Fresh off US tours with Gaslight Anthem, Crime In Stereo, American Steel, Broadway Calls, and A Wilhelm Scream, Polar Bear Club is set for 2009 to be their year.

"Their career is off to a great start and I'd bet that Sometimes Things Just Disappear will be looked back on as the start of something great. "-Punknews

"Sometimes Things Just Disappear is not an album that comes along often. Polar Bear Club are able to combine an intense passion in every aspect of their band with great musicianship. I’m not sure what more could be asked from a band."-Absolute Punk

Defeater-Travels CD - $ 10

Defeater has launched out of the north shore of Massachusetts with their debut album Travels.

Defeater has a wide array of influences and at first listen, you'll hear tracks reminiscent of Botch and Deadguy mixed with traditional hardcore. Ethically influenced by bands like Fugazi and musically by Minor Threat and Modern Life Is War – Defeater is no copycat band. Jay said, "We have been careful to know where we are going before we start driving there. It's important to us to flesh out mood and place instead of just blindly sitting down with my guitar hashing out riffs." He continues to say, "…I wanted to make a record that you could get into even if for some reason you don't care about the meaning behind the lyrics, but at the same time I wanted to make sure the listener to at least knows that there is more going on lyrically
than a bunch of non-interconnected thoughts and emotions." This release features the full album download with the lyrics.

Cruel Hand-Prying Eyes CD - $ 5

Cruel Hand has released the surprise album of 2008. Following last year’s Without A Pulse, the Maine natives focused on one important question-What Would Cliff Do? Taking the no-frills attack of their debut, Cruel Hand’s new album Prying Eyes takes the foundation of Cro-Mags, Leeway and Madball, and the band runs it through blender with early Metallica and COC to end up with a relentless album that’s got riffs, breakdowns, and ferocity that all hit the listener head-on. Call it metal hardcore or hardcore metal, Prying Eyes is a 12-song call to arms for a band that is just getting started. Expect to see them in every corner of the globe over the next twelve months.

Crime In Stereo-Selective Wreckage CD - $ 5

Crime In Stereo's 2007 genre-defying album Crime In Stereo Is Dead was a huge step forward from 2006's punk outburst The Troubled Stateside. Selective Wreckage isn't so much of a b-sides collection as it is a collection of unreleased songs that document the band's evolution from the 2005 recording sessions for Stateside and 2007's Is Dead. Featuring the often rumored, but never released split EP with Capital, and songs from many recording session, this is a 10 song statement to Crime In Stereo's talent and diversity and only begs the question-what will come when the band releases a new album in 2009.

Ceremony - Still Nothing Moves You Full Length CD - $ 5

Ceremony Still Nothing Moves You is a disturbing and challenging accomplishment and what's so great about it is that it is an impossible album to describe in comparison to other bands or previous artists. Following the release of Violence Violence in 2006, Ceremony forcefully defined what it is they do as a band and in the process, they catapulted themselves into the upper eschelon of hardcore and punk music. Punknews called Violence violence "a modern hardcore masterpiece" and Ceremony's recognition came all the way from Alternative Press, who lauded the band as one of their 22 Bands Who Won't Stay Underground for Long as well as giving the band a full-page feature in 2008's "Bands to Know" issue. 2007's Bridge Nine ep Scared People was hailed as 2007's EP of the Year by Punknews once again, but until now, the band had yet to record a full-length album for Bridge Nine until now.

Ceremony's Still Nothing Moves You was recorded with Dan Rathbun at Polymorph Studios (Tragedy, From Ashes Rise, Sleepytime Gorilla Museum) and it's the perfect mix of clarity and quality of a professional recording without losing the dynamics and grit of a punk recording. Still Nothing Moves You takes what groundwork has been laid and adds new levels of dissonance, power, and even new tunings to the world of hardcore, further defining Ceremony as a band that can only be referred to as "for fans of Ceremony."

Have Heart - Songs to Scream At the Sun CD - $ 5

Have Heart launched onto the worldwide hardcore scene in 2006 with the release of their debut full-length The Things We Carry. The world of hardcore was caught by surprise, and calling the album “breakthrough” would be an understatement. Reviews were nothing short of flawless, with Punknews.org saying, “It's impossible for words to do this album justice.” The album received multiple “Hardcore Album Of The Year” nods and extensive press recognition such as being named one of AP’s Bands To Know. The band went from a regional hardcore band with a passionate following to Boston’s worldwide hardcore torch-bearers that would play every continent except Africa and Antarctica, selling out shows everywhere with Bane, Ceremony, Verse, Madball, Terror and even playing 50,000 person festivals in Columbia with Coheed & Cambria. So the ultimate question is this-how do they follow up the last two years?

Songs To Scream At The Sun is the result of those two years. Lyrically and vocally, frontman Pat Flynn puts forward nothing short of ten intense and chilling songs-opening up personally in a way he only hinted at for The Things We Carry. As frontman Pat Flynn said, “Songs To Scream At The Sun is the coming of age story. It’s about the growing process of a young kid shaking the chains of selfishness, but it’s everything about what you lose and gain in that process of growing up.” The songs have an honest, yet poetic reflection that digs deep into the private lives that are shared by everyone-the deconstruction and dismantling of one’s life and the eventual rebuilding and rebirth. This is at times dark and depressing, but Flynn’s lyrics never lose hope in what allows people to get strength in these situations. And what’s so strong about the performance and lyrics, aside from the cliché of hardcore singers “meaning what they say” is that the perception of the lyrics-are they dark, depressing, positive, or hopeful?-is up to the listener to decide.

Songs To Scream At The Sun was recorded with Kurt Ballou of Converge at God City Studios. Combining Ballou’s signature grit and style of record with Have Heart’s style of music-it results in a dichotomy of clean, sharp drums and a variety of guitar tones and sounds that combined-does not hint at one particular or obvious influence. Musically, there are moments which are mid-tempo and melodic, there are moments that are classic hardcore anthems, and it’s balanced with times which are dark and atmospheric. It's an impressive accomplishment.

Verse - Aggression CD - $ 5

Verse Aggression is a rare album. It's not often that hardcore bands will make it to a third full-length, and it's even less common that the third full-length is a band's most desparate and angry album to date. Making their name well known simply by working harder than just about any band in hardcore over the last five years, Aggression is the culmination and intersection of that experience and a wide array of influences. "A New Fury" opens the album with frontman Sean Murphy screaming arrhythmically over the band, and the six and a half minute "Story Of A Free Man" is something very few bands could pull off-a three phase narrative spread over three tracks that play seamlessly together. This album proves that Verse is just getting started.

Crime In Stereo- Is Dead CD - $ 5

Crime In Stereo has returned with their third full-length album Crime In Stereo Is Dead. Crime In Stereo Is Dead is unlike any record the band or Bridge Nine Records have ever released. It’s a punk record, it’s a hardcore record, and it’s an intricately written album start to finish-but it doesn’t really fit into the “melodic hardcore” or “punk” category without having to further qualify the description. Produced by longtime collaborator Mike Sapone.

"an absolutely haunting and incredible landmark effort-4.5 stars"-Alternative Press

"This is a record that's inspirational. It's a completely different entity from their previous records. Call those the naivety of youth or a band desperate to find their sound, call it what you will. But this is the real deal. It's a record that's so strong it takes a lot of listens to really get it."-Punktastic

Triple Threat- Into The Darkness CD - $ 5

13 songs of punk influenced hardcore, paying homage to later Black Flag and the SST catalog. Featuring former members of Mouthpiece and Hands Tied.

-"Modern hardcore has been overrun with the metalcore crowd and the kids who think that screamo is hardcore. Triple Threat unleash a whupping on that and steer us clear of those clichés. Brutal pit-stompers from start to finish, “Into the Darkness” is a healthy reminder of times past."-Smother.net Editor's Pick

Palehorse Amongst The Flock CD - $ 5

Debut CD from Connecticut's metallic hardcore upstarts. Fusing metal and hardcore similar to Hatebreed and Integrity, Palehorse steps it up with a nod to classic 80s thrash metal like Exodus or Nuclear Assault. 11 songs of pure destruction.

-"Palehorse have the drive and vigour of early Thrash/Crossover bands, except that they are ten times as angry and are even more volatile. The album reminds me of the same fire in the belly feeling that S.O.D. and Anthrax stole my heart with back in my mid teens."-Live4Metal
-"Amongst the Flock is a great example of an excellent metallic hardcore record that surpasses the rest of the pack in terms of its emotion and intensity."-Lambgoat

Think I Care- World Asylum CD - $ 6

Think I Care-World Asylum LP- Although existing as a band for over seven years, Think I Care has only recently begun to earn the respect and recognition they've long deserved. Musically, picture four guys who grew up on early 80's Boston hardcore, give them copies of Celtic Frost's "Morbid Tales" and Sheer Terror's "Just Can't Hate Enough" and witness the mongrel it spawns. Lyrically, singer Jason Clegg's bitter and spiteful words reflect growing up and outcast in the industrial town of Winchendon Mass, hit hard by factory closings and economic recession in recent years. Winchendon also has a rich tradition of producing some of the ugliest sounding hardcore to ever come out of the state, and Think I care is no exception. Never dramatic, these motherfuckers play the best kind of hardcore; abrasive, reactionary and totally genuine.
